Constant acceleration: a worked example
Use v = u + at and s = ut + ½at² when acceleration stays constant. Starting from rest with a = 2 m/s² for t = 3 s gives v = 6 m/s and s = 9 m.
Frequently asked questions
Which values should I enter?
Enter the known quantities and leave unknown fields blank. Use one consistent positive direction for velocity, displacement, acceleration, and force.
When do these equations apply?
These motion equations assume constant acceleration in one dimension. A flat-surface friction model does not represent every contact geometry or changing force.
